White Belt

Tenth and Ninth Gup

Each belt has its own particular meaning. The color white represents snow, purity, a blank slate — no knowledge. All a White Belt is expected to do is come to class with an open mind and be an empty vessel to be filled. There are two ranks to each belt, the higher rank denoted by a stripe of the color of the belt that follows. So a ninth gup White Belt would be identified by a yellow stripe on the belt.
