Students in the Kids Program (ages 6–9) learn Do San at Green Belt.
Do San
Do-san is the pseudonym (nick-name) of the great Korean patriot and educator Ahn Chang-Ho (1878-1938).
1. Shift the balance to the right foot and pivot 90° to the left; assume a front stance and execute a palm-out middle block.
1b. Reverse punch.
2. Shift the balance to the right foot and slide the left foot to the right foot. Quickly shift the balance to the left foot and pivot 90° to the right; step forward to a front stance and execute a palm-out middle block.
2b. Reverse punch
3. Shift the balance to the left foot and slide the right foot to the left foot. Quickly shift the balance to the right foot and pivot 90° to the left and step forward to a back stance, double knife-hand guarding block.
4. Step forward to a front stance and execute a protected vertical spear-hand.
5. Grabbing your attacker’s arm, pull your hand behind your back while turning 360° counterclockwise; step forward to a front stance, horizontal backfist.
6. Step forward to a front stance, horizontal backfist, KIHAP.
7. Shift the balance to the right foot and pivot 270° counterclockwise; assume a front stance and execute a middle block (palm out).
7b. Reverse punch.
8. Shift the balance to the right foot and slide the left foot to the right foot. Quickly shift the balance to the left foot and pivot 90° to the right; step forward to a front stance and execute a middle block (palm out).
8b. Reverse Punch.
9. Shift the balance to the left foot and slide the right foot to the left foot. Quickly shift the balance to the right foot and pivot 135° to the left; assume a front stance and execute a wedging block.
10. Rear leg front kick; step forward to a front stance and execute a middle punch.
10b. Reverse punch.
11. Shift the balance to the left foot and pivot 90° to the right; step forward to a front stance and execute a wedging block.
12. Rear leg front kick; step forward to a front stance and execute a middle punch.
12b. Reverse punch.
13. Shift the balance to the right foot and pivot 45° to the left; assume a front stance and execute a rising block.
14. Step forward and assume a front stance and execute a rising block, KIHAP.
15. Shift the balance to the right foot and pivot 270° counterclockwise; assume a horse stance and execute a knife-hand strike (inside).
16. Shift the balance to the right foot and slide the left foot to the right foot. Quickly shift the balance to the left foot; step forward to a horse stance and execute a knife-hand strike (inside), KIHAP.
Move your right foot back to ready stance.
